1. Kyan was born 52cm and weighed 3.425kg. He was brought to this world by caesarian birth on 22 July 2009 after Mummy failed attempt to deliver him naturally despite having gone through the whole process of labour (with epidural). Urghh.. 2. Mummy and Daddy were initially thinking of naming him Eason, Cedric or Aiken. Uncle Jensen said Aiken sounded like bacon. He casually suggested 'Kyan' which Mummy liked immediately. From then on, we decided to call our son Kyan, as in 'K'-ian. Not very phonetically sound, but it does not matter to Mummy cos she simply loves the name. 3. At the hospital, Kyan amused relatives with his '喜怒哀乐’facial expressions. 4. He developed jaundice and Mummy had to stay for another day with him at the hospital. 5. Mummy and Daddy brought him back to hospital for bloodtest two weeks later. He was pricked on the heel but that did not wake him up from his morning nap. Mummy was expecting to hear a loud scream from the room, but Daddy carried him in his arms, still asleep. 6. Kyan was on partial BF and formula milk. Whenever he finished drinking FM from the bottle, his whole body became very releaxed. Both his hands straightened and looked zombie or knocked out or "high". Shortly after, he would poo and then fall into slumber. 7.Kyan's first decipherable word to Mummy was 'poo'. It happened one night when he woke up with poo. The moment I picked him up from his cot, he said "poo". He was one month plus then, obviously it was mere coincidental. 7. First jab was done at the end of 1st month. He had the first dose of 6-in-1 and another for pneumoccocal. He cried, really cried. 8. I was expecting another episode of crying when he went for his 2nd dose. Much to my surprise, he just gave a slight groan. No tears at all. He was a strong boy.For subsequent jabs, Dr Terence Tan and his ceiling mobile distracted him well enough. Before we knew about it, he was done with the jabs. Superb. 9. He flipped to his side and rested on his tummy towards the end of 3 months. This was witnessed by gong gong, po po, daddy, mummy, yi zhang and ah yi. 10. Kyan could sleep through after 3 months. However, at 4 months plus, he suddenly rejected bottle-feed. He also had sudden wakefulness at night. Mummy started to feel panicky cos in less than a months' time, he will be going to babysitter's place as Mummy returned to work. Daddy took leave to train Kyan to accept the bottle again. Daddy's perseverance paid off. Kyan finally took the bottle again after 1 month of training. 10. Daddy called his waking up in the night "三部曲". Fortunately it was just a temporary phase, or Daddy and Mummy would go bonkers. keke. 11. Kyan was sent to Aunty Margaret's place on 22 Dec 2008, on his 5 month bday. 12. Kyan's attempt to crawl culminated to the Ha Ma Gong which he apparently became well known for. He is also quite well known for his ability to non-stop jump jump. 13. Kyan cut his first tooth on 16 Jan 2009. Soon after the 2nd tooth sprouted. Probably that explained his refusal for bottle and heavy drooling.

14. He tried cereals at 5month plus. Ate fish porridge after his 6 months bday. Kyan always spice up Daddy and Mummys' day with surprises. Last Saturday, he dug out the blue toy car from the box and in his walker, he headed for the basketball goal post and dropped the blue car into the net. Then he reached for the TV remote control and did like wise. Bingo! 15. Daddy caught him giving a fake cry when Kyan was whining in his cot the moment Daddy went out of sight. But once Daddy carried him out of the cot, his whine turned into a grin, immediately. 16. This morning, he stood up in his cot, holding onto the cot side support. Sigh..the cot is no longer a safe place for him. 17. He can now respond to his name - Kyan. But when his Chinese name is called out to him, he laughed. What does this mean? 18. He knows wat "little sheep", "ABC", "ostrich" and rainbow" are. On yes, he knows who are his daddy and mummy too. 19. He is obsessed with peek-ah-boo. 20. He knows how to flex and extend his fingers when we say bye bye. He looks like the 招财猫 when he does that.By his 8th month, he is able to do twinke twinkle and sing his own version of twinkle twinkle little star.

Kyan reached 6 months on 22 Jan. On 16 Jan, we spotted his first tooth and the second lower front tooth a week later. Last week, 31 Jan, he went for his third hexa and pneumoccoal jabs. The distraction was succssful--he did not utter a single sound when Dr Tan jabbed him on both thighs. His weight was 8.8kg, auspicious for CNY..haha..
